ABOUT THE MUSEUM

The American Pigeon Museum & Library (APM&L) was originally formed in 1973 as the American Homing Pigeon Institute (AHPI). In 1993, due to the efforts of the sport, the AHPI purchased the 10 acres where the World of Wings and APM&L now reside. The World of Wings was developed so people could come and learn about the many varieties of pigeons and to enjoy our beautiful surroundings. Through the last 40 years, the museum has collected historically significant items from various pigeon fanciers and received several major contributions of materials from prominent members of the hobby.

In 2013, the museum was moved into our new building which was built on the west side of the property. The new facility is larger and offers more space and security for the display and storing of our collections. Our new facility opened in January 2014 and it has been continually receiving visitors since it’s opening. Our visitors include pigeon fanciers from all over the world and non-pigeon people who visit to learn about this amazing bird and how it’s earned its reputation as mans oldest feathered friend. This is an experience the entire family will enjoy!

The APM&L is the perfect location and outing event for groups of all ages. Perfect for classroom field trips or a day out of the office.
